Warren D Pierce, Jr.

           Warren D. Pierce, Jr., a retired Food Broker, passed away after a brief illness, at the Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln, on Friday morning, January 4, 2019. Warren was 76 years old. Warren was born in Cambridge. He was raised and educated in Arlington.  He was the son of the late Warren and Margaret Pierce.  Warren would meet his future wife Janet while in High school.  After dating for five years they married on October 16, 1966.   They raised five children, Jeannette, Jennifer, Warren, Billy and John who deeply loved and respected their parents. 

          Warren had a successful career as a Food Broker for over 40 years owning businesses in both Boston and Naples, Florida. Warren was very athletic and loved all types of sports.  He enjoyed going to sporting events such as the Army/Navy Football game, Notre Dame Football and Red Sox Spring Training.   Warren enjoyed traveling with family and friends and whether it was Saratoga, San Francisco or Ireland, he always ran into someone he knew. In his mid-thirties Warren took up a new past-time called Racquetball. It became a passion for him playing competitively well into his 60’s.  He competed locally and nationally and at one point was ranked 3rd nationally in his age group.  When the children were young weekends for the Pierce family where spent traveling to competitions to see Warren compete.

          Warren was a fun loving, hardworking, unselfish and generous man who always put the needs of others ahead of his own.  He took great joy in building a wonderful life for his family.  Spending family vacations at Mt. Washington hotel and down on the Cape and renting in Gloucester during summer vacations.  Warren had a close relationship with all his grandchildren who adored their Papa and looked up to him as a role model.    He had outgoing and infectious personality and made friends wherever he went.  Warren will be remembered in a positive way.  He lived his life his way focusing on opportunities, blessings and the gifts he had received during his lifetime. 

          Warren was the beloved husband do the late Janet (Proulx).    He was the loving father of Jeanette Pierce-MacNeil & her companion Brian Roy of Billerica, Jennifer Tapley & her husband Gary of St. Augustine, FL, Warren D, III of Burlington, William & his wife Mary of Melrose and John & his fiancée Kristen Laggis-Pedroli of Hopkinton.   Proud grandfather of Benjamin, Matthew, Will, Catherine, Margaret, Jack, Harrison & Keira.  Brother of Janice Burke & her late husband Daniel and their daughter Laura Burke-Maginnis all of Natick.  Brother-in-law of Marie Cullen & her late husband Leonard of Woburn. 

        Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128/95 Woburn side) on Tuesday, Jan. 8 from 4-8 p.m.  Funeral from the Funeral Home on Wednesday, Jan. 9 at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Malachy’s Church, 99 Bedford St., Burlington at 10 a.m.  Burial to following in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington.  In lieu of flowers memorials in Warren’s name may be made to Care Dimensions Hospice House, 125 Winter St., Lincoln, MA 01773.
