Phil, our big brother who died on June 11, l999.
You and Phil will always be missed and loved.
Remembering Phil, he is probably waiting by

Hey Julien –
What a wonderful tribute that was to you last Saturday! With all the changes you’ve been undergoing, maybe you didn’t get a chance to attend, but everybody felt like you were right there with us. It was standing room only at the service, so if you made it, you were probably glad to be hovering overhead.
In case you had to attend to other priorities that day, let me tell you it was a day that would have made you smile. Kevin Sullivan from the funeral home led the proceedings and it seemed as though he’d been one your best friends. His eulogy was spot-on. Then Justin and Dave did you proud with a video they must have slaved over. What great sons you have! There were tons of pictures of you and the family over the years and even a sound track with wonderful music, favorite songs of yours and Diane’s no doubt. How could there be a better way to show us the wonderful life you and Diane provided for your family and loved ones?
Your buddy Jeff spoke of your friendship of 50 years. Not many can say they’ve had a close friend for that long! Your nephew, Gregg got up to speak next. He was so eloquent about the influence you had on his life; it was just amazing. And Sage, your grandniece, (love that red hair!) read a beautiful poem she had written for you. What a neat kid! You must have been awfully good to your family, that’s all I can say.
Horst and Lisa spoke about how much you loved being at the lake and how much everyone here loved and appreciated you. Then Diane’s mother (what a wonderful woman she is!)surprised even Diane by reading a lovely poem she had paraphrased for you. By this time there was barely a dry eye in the place.
Afterwards there was a gathering you would really have enjoyed. Diane (she looked beautiful, by the way) put on a spread of pizza, beer and all the fixings that was exactly what you would have ordered. Just about everyone who was at the service went and they filled the whole hall. I don’t think even Diane knew you had so many friends and from conversations we heard, more would have come if they could. You definitely upstaged St. Patty’s Day!
All your golfing buddies were there, of course. You’ll be pleased to know they spontaneously renamed your league “The Hoffman League” and the trophy is now “The Julien.” How about that! Memories of moments with you were on everyone’s lips. It was hard to believe you weren’t there at one of the tables. .... Or were you?
It was a special day honoring a truly special person– you! Even though you are gone from us much too soon, you touched so many lives while you were here. Everyone misses you like crazy, Julien.
Me, too.
Love, Chris

I was fortunate enough to be able to work closely with Julien for many years. His compassion for his work was evident, and he and I shared many a sprited conversation about the "best way" to do something. His death is a loss for us all. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Diane ,Hilde,Henry and all
Our lives have been interwoven for over 50 years. My first impression of Julien was at 8 with a terrarium and a huge snake in his bedroom-- right on down to his obsession with Dungeons and Dragons and of couse that same obsession held true for you Diane and Justin and David. You could always tell his love for his big sister who in many ways raised him.
We loved Julien and we will miss him.Thankgiving was always better when we had the whole extended family together. Too bad the family got so big and we spread out around the country.
We are sorry that we can't be with you in body but we will be there in spirit!!
Love
Lynn and Roger

Diane, it is with great sadness that I am writing this email. Julien was a breath of fresh air on the shores of Sebago Lake. We have missed you both so much during this last year and only hope you and I can continue our friendship. Zoe Zoe misses Brian as well (LOL Julien is laughing from above). I know that Julien is finally pain free but it is so sad that his journey with us ended so soon. Please remember that you have friends on Stuart Shores that truly care. Anytime you need something, you know where to find us. My sincere sympathy to you and the boys. Lisa and Eric xo

I am so sorry for your loss Diane on hearing about Julien. Although we never met, I feel I know you and your family well as Julien and I had many long discussions about our families and how we loved them very much. I worked with Julien at Sovereign Bank and had the pleasure of being part of the same team during many projects. Julien was very passionate about his work, although his sense of humor was always a welcomed relief during the occasional challenges. I have missed working with Julien.
Again, I am sorry for your loss. May God bless you and your family.
