Obituary of W. Christopher Rigby

Chris Rigby passed away at the Lahey Hospital & Medical Center on Saturday morning, April 15, 2017. The beloved husband of Margaret (Meaney), he was 57 years old. Chris was born and raised in Dorchester. He was a 1977 graduate of Boston College High School. After high school, he met a local girl from Dorchester, Margaret Meaney. They married in 1983. They would have celebrated their 34th wedding anniversary this June. Chris and Margaret moved to Burlington in 1986 where they would raise their family. Chris had progressive levels of responsibility in the IT industry. He started his career at Bank of Boston in Dorchester where he worked for over 25 years. He was currently working with Partners Healthcare. Chris was the definition of hard work and determination. He had a strong work ethic and was always committed to his job and employer, doing whatever it took to get the job done. Chris was very involved in his three children’s lives. He was a hands on and supportive dad. He never missed any of their activities or sporting events and could always be seen in the stands cheering them on. He instilled in them the same family values that his mom and dad did in him. He was very proud of them as they grew into adulthood and made lives for themselves. Chris had a very close relationship with his brothers and sisters, who were also his friends. He was a loving son to his mom Mary and his dad Bob, who passed away in 2013. Chris and Margaret had a wonderful life and a strong and supportive marriage. As a family they enjoyed many special times together; taking trips throughout New England and in recent years, York, Maine became one of their favorite destinations. He was blessed to see the birth of his first grandchild Vivian who brought him immense joy. Chris will be remembered as a man who had a strong presence and a larger than life personality with his quick wit and sense of humor. Chris was the beloved husband of Margaret (Meaney). He is the loving father of Anne & David Heald of Chelmsford, Christo & Jennifer of Chelmsford and Brendan & his girlfriend Kellie Weber of Haverhill. Proud “Bumpa” of Vivian Margaret. Son of Mary T. (Kelly) and the late Robert of Burlington. Son-in-law of Anne Meaney & the late Eric of Dorchester. Brother of Robert E. Jr. & his wife Nancy Kominkiewicz of Beverly, Bill & Paula of Burlington, Noreen & David Groom of Burlington, Kathy McDowell of Burlington and the late Karen Vick & Mark Rigby. Brother-in-law of Brian McDowell of Burlington, Greg Vick of Lynn, Joseph Meaney of Dorchester, Katherine & Dick Scanlon of Quincy, Susan & Brian Reaney of Dorchester, Linda & Jeff White of NC and Eric Meaney of Dorchester. Godfather of Nicole Rigby and Sue Buckley. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Funeral from the Edward V Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128/95 Woburn side) on Wednesday, April 19 at 9 a.m. Following a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Win St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8 p.m. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery, BURLINGTON.
