Clara Falzone

Obituary of Clara Falzone

Clara Falzone passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, August 5, 2017. She was 90 years old. Clara was born in Stoughton, MA and was one of eight children born to Italian immigrants, Salvatore and Mary Caraviello. She grew up in the North End and Medford and was a 1944 graduate of Medford High School. After marrying, she settled in Burlington in 1956. In 1969, she moved to a newly developed neighborhood where her brother and sister purchased homes as well. Being in close proximity to her siblings, was one of her great joys. Clara was a woman of strong independence and will. She began work as a seamstress, having grown up in the garment district where her father owned a clothing manufacturing firm. After her children were grown, she began working in the electronic industry as a quality assurance manager. At age 80 she was forced into retirement, but given her good health, stamina and work ethic, would have certainly preferred to work until she was 85, a fact she never missed revealing. Clara had a way about her that made one feel appreciated and loved. She was extremely social and easily engaged new friends and neighbors with amusing stories of the past. She had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. She enjoyed entertaining as well being entertained and was a wonderful cook of traditional Italian food. She appreciated music, especially classical and big band and delighted in singing along to her favorite songs while working in the home. Supporting causes she believed in and her faith were priorities for her. Reading, watching old movies, playing scrabble, and most importantly, cheering on the Patriots, were her favorite pastimes in retirement. Traveling to destinations such as Israel, Germany, Italy and England was a thrill for her later in life. For Clara though, her most prized possession was her family. She was a dedicated mother to four children and six grandchildren, all of whom valued her humor, spirit, independence, work ethic, and devotion to family. She lived a great life, was blessed with amazing health, and did it all in her own special “Clara Way”! Clara was the loving mother of Carolyn Falzone of Revere, Alex Falzone & wife Karen of Billerica, Christine Falzone & husband Stefan Tullius of Cambridge, Charles Falzone & partner Anne Whittington of Burlington. She was the sister of Salvatore Caraviello of Amesbury, Armand Caraviello of Ogunquit, ME, Richard Caraviello of Medford, the late Frank Caraviello of Medford, the late Fred Caraviello of Medfield and the late Christine Guarino of Burlington. Clara was the proud grandmother of Alex Jr., Joseph, Anthony, and Trisha Falzone, and Alessio & Chiara Tullius. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn Street, Burlington (exit 34 off Rt. 128/95, Woburn side) on Tuesday, August 8 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Burial in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
