Obituary of William Miksenas

William T. Miksenas passed away the E. N. Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital on Saturday evening, August 18, 2007. He was 87 years old. Mr. Miksenas was born in Boston. He was raised and educated in South Boston. He was one of ten children born to the late Andrew and Ellen Miksenas. Mr. Miksenas was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving his country both in World War II and Korea. He was the recipient of the Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon, and the American Theater Campaign Ribbon. After leaving the Air Force he went on to become an Electrician. He worked for over 20 years as an Electrician at Fort Devens in Ayer. He was an active man who enjoyed swimming and playing golf. He was also an avid bowler and belonged to leagues in both Bedford and Waltham. Mr. Miksenas is the beloved father of Diane C. & her husband Robert G. Auerbach of Montana, Cheryl L. of Bedford, Frederick A. & his wife Allison of Billerica, William H. & his wife Lisa of Burlington, Eileen M. of Bedford and the late Ellen W. He is the grandfather of Taylor Auerbach, Steven, Justin & Hannah Miksenas and the late Morgan Auerbach. He is the former husband of Irene M. Miksenas of Bedford. He is predeceased by 9 brothers & sisters. Funeral services will be held at Grace Chapel, 59 Worthen Road, Lexington on Thursday, August 23 at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. Interment will be held in Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 1:15 PM
