Obituary of Thomas C. Koczur

Thomas Christopher Koczur, a 30 year employee of Madico, Inc., passed away peacefully with his family at his bedside on Saturday, June 23, 2018. He was 48 years old. Tom was born at the Choate Hospital in Woburn. He was a lifelong resident of Burlington. He was a member of the 1988 graduating class of Shawsheen Technical High School in Billerica. He then went to work at Madico, Inc. at the age of 18. He worked his way up in the firm for 30 years, culminating as an Inspector in their Quality Assurance Department. Tom and Cheryl had been together for 28 years and married for nearly 20 years. Of all his accomplishments, Tom was most proud of his two boys. He enjoyed participating in all of their passions, from sports to video games. It was a family tradition to spend time on Cape Cod and in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, creating special family memories. Everyone in his family has gone on some type of adventure with him. The list includes: rock climbing, zip lining, off road ATV, kayaking, boating, riding motorcycles, and numerous other adventures that now have become so important to all his family. He lived his life devoted to his wife, children, and family. His touch, influence, love, and infectious sense of humor has left prints on their hearts that can never be undone. Tom was the loving husband of Cheryl (Meara) Koczur. He was the proud and loving father of Adam and Ryan Koczur. He was the son of Peter Koczur, Sr. of Phoenix, Arizona and the late Anne Koczur. He was the brother of Peter Koczur & his wife Paula and Karen Swain & her husband Robert. He was the son-in-law of Margaret “Peggy” Meara of Burlington and the late Kenneth Meara. He was the brother-in-law of Christopher Meara. He was the fun uncle to Robert Swain, Allyssa Swain, and Brooke Marchewka. There will be visiting hours held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn Street, Burlington (exit 34 off Rt. 128/95, Woburn side) on Thursday, June 28, 2018 from 4-8 p.m. On Friday the relatives and friends may gather at the funeral home from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn Street, Burlington at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. The burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in memory of Thomas Koczur to support cancer research and patient care via www.dana-farber.org/gift.
