Obituary of Barbara McCarthy

Barbara M. McCarthy, passed away at the Sawtelle Hospice House in Reading on Saturday night, October 13, 2007. She was 79 years old. Barbara was born in Birmingham England, the daughter of the late Hedley and Nellie Hyett. She grew up and was educated in England. She worked her entire career in the banking industry. She had worked in a number of banks in England for 16 years. She then moved from England and had resided and worked in Banks in Canada, California, and Florida before settling in Burlington 40 years ago. She retired from the National Shawmut Bank in 1978. Barbara was an avid tennis player. She was a member of the Tennis Club and was a member of a competitive tennis team. She also enjoyed the sports of Car Racing and Horse Racing. Barbara was an active member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Burlington. Reverend John De Beer of St. Mark’s Church will be the celebrant for Barbara’s memorial service. Barbara is survived by her husband James McCarthy of Burlington. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Memorial Services will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Saturday, October 20th at 4 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
