Gary F. Merrill, Assistant Director of Financial Aid at Bentley College passed away at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington on Wednesday, December 27, 2007. He was 57 years old.
Gary was born in Glens Falls, New York, the son of the late Harvey and Frances Merrill. He grew up in Hudson Falls, New York. He was a resident of Burlington for the past 20 years. He had previously resided in Waltham. He was working at Bentley College for the past 18 years. His first position was in the Bursars Office. Later, he became the Assistant Director of Financial Aid at the college.
Gary had many interests. Since childhood he was a faithful New York Yankees fan. He enjoyed working around his home and pool. He coached his sons in Little League Baseball and Youth Soccer. He umpired baseball games when called upon. He loved music and even worked as a D.J when he was younger. Eric Clapton was his favorite artist. Family was extremely important to Gary. He appreciated time spent with his family whether it was watching the television show, "MASH," relaxing around the pool, playing trivia, or enjoying one of their many family vacations. It was this time with his family that he prized the most.
Gary was the beloved husband of Rosemary (Fucci) Merrill for 30 years. He was the loving father of Andrew and Ryan Merrill, both of Burlington. He was the brother of Bette Ehren of Jacksonville, NC, and the late Harvey P. Merrill, Jr. and Richard Merrill. He was the brother-in-law of Norma Merrill of San Antonio, TX. He was also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt.128, Woburn side) on Monday, Dec. 31 at 8 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Malachy's Church, 99 Bedford St., Burlington at 9 a.m. Visiting hours Sunday 3-6 p.m. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington.
