Richard F. Forristall, a resident of Burlington since 1975, passed away at Youville Hospital in Cambridge on Saturday afternoon, March 8, 2008. The husband of Mara C. (Martin), he was 84 years old.
Richard was born in Somerville. He was one of 13 children born to the late Richard J. and Mary Elizabeth Forristall. Richard was a veteran of World War II serving his country in the United States Navy. He was the recipient of the World War II Victory Medal, Commendation Ribbon (Third Fleet), Asiatic Pacific Ribbon, and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon. Richard worked for the Cambridge Housing Authority for over 30 years. Richard's hobby was raising Pigeon's. He had a cage in his back yard and was a member of the American Racing Association based out of Medford. He was Boston sports fan and followed all the local sports teams. Richard's life was devoted to his family and he treasured the many special times he spent with his wife, children, and his ten grandchildren.
Richard is the beloved husband of Mara C. (Martin). He is the loving father of Richard F. Forristall, Jr. & his wife Elizabeth of Weston, FL, Edward M. Forristall & his wife Dina of Billerica, and Mara C. & her husband Wayne Silvia of Billerica. He is the brother of Kathleen Wadland of Somerville, Edward F. Forristall of Billerica. He is predeceased by 10 brothers & sisters. He is the proud grandfather of Breanna, Brittney, Jessica, Ashley, Marc, Emmalee, Zachary, Tyler, Cameron, & Aiden. Funeral Services will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Wednesday, March 12 at 11:00 a.m. A visiting hour will be held prior to the services from 10 – 11 a.m. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery, BURLINGTON. . In lieu of flowers memorials in Richard's name may be made to Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 1332 North Halsted St., Suite 201, Chicago, IL 60622.
