Obituary of Alexander Farquharson

Alexander Farquharson, a carpet salesman, passed away after a long illness at the Lexington Health Care Center in Lexington. He was 91 years old. Alex was born in Boston, the son of Scottish immigrants, the late Alexander and Janet Farquharson. He grew up in Allston and was a graduate of Brighton High School. He attended Bentley College. He married his wife, Ethelyne in July of 1942 and entered the Army in October of 1942. He held the rank of Technical Sergeant and was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal, and the American Theater Campaign Ribbon. Alex enjoyed working with people and spent his entire working career as a salesman in the carpet industry. He was a long time employee of Avigdor Rug in Brookline. He spent his retirement years working at Keene Carpet in Burlington as a salesman. He retired when he was 74 years old. In his free time, he enjoyed to read and follow sports. He enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his family. Alex was the beloved husband of Ethelyne (Newton) Farquharson of Burlington. He was the loving father of Alexander Farquharson, Jr. & his wife Carol of Greensville, SC, Bruce Farquharson & his wife Anne Marie of China, and Leslie & her husband Widge Merrill of Topsfield. He was the brother of Bess LeShane of Englewood, FL. He was the devoted grandfather of Alexander Farquharson III of Taylors, SC and Andrew Merrill of Topsfield and great grandfather of Ethan Farquharson. Funeral services will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Wednesday, March 26 at Noon. A visiting hour will be held 1 hour prior to the service. Interment in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington
