Obituary of Seraphim Gouveia
Seraphim “Serry” Gouveia, a retired Plant Foreman for Quinn Sand and Gravel, passed away at his home surrounded by all his family, on Sunday evening, March 30, 2008. He was 85 years old.
Serry was born in New Bedford, the son of Portuguese immigrants, the late John and Clara Gouveia. He grew up in New Bedford. He had also resided in Charlestown for a time before settling in Burlington in 1960. Serry was a hard working man, who had worked his way to become Plant Foreman at Quinn Sand & Gravel in Burlington. In his retirement years he enjoyed working around his home and garden.
Serry’s life revolved around his family. He was a devoted and loving husband for 62 years. He was a proud father and grandfather. He would do anything for his family. He was always there to lend a hand or a tool (as long as you returned it) to a family member, friend, or neighbor. He loved family vacations, holidays, and special family events. He was always happiest when he was surrounded by his family.
Serry was the beloved husband of Mary C. (Marashio) Gouveia. He was the loving father of Robert J. & his wife Nancy of Burlington, Debra A Plant. & her husband Stephen Rochon of Lexington, Steven & his wife Stacey of Methuen, Thomas & his wife Carol of Dracut, Serry J. & his wife Manuela of Billerica. Brother of Laura Medeiros of New Bedford and the late Fernanda Paul. Grandfather of Daniel, Michelle, Jonathan, Leah, Christina, Madison, & Serry, Jr. Gouveia, Jason Plant, Stephen & Stephanie Rochon. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington on Thursday, April 3 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Barbara’s Church, 138 Cambridge Rd., Woburn at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8 p.m. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery, BURLINGTON.
