Obituary of Dottie Piper
Doris P. ”Dottie” Piper, a loving wife and devoted mother, passed away after a short illness at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers on Friday morning, June 20, 2008. She was 78 years old.
Dottie grew up in Arlington. She was a graduate of Arlington High School in 1947. She married her late husband Bob in 1951. They settled in Burlington in 1959 where they raised their 4 children. In 1985, they moved to Salem, MA. They loved the ocean and boating and Salem was the perfect place to spend their retirement years. Dottie worked as an administrative Assistant at her husband’s company, Highland Trust. She had also worked as a bookkeeper at the Blue Note and Caesar’s in Lynn. Dottie was a member of the Bass Haven Yacht Club in Beverly. She loved animals, especially her dog, Cooper. She was a great shopper and had a great sense of fashion.
Dottie was a devoted and loving wife for over 50 years. She was a caring and supportive mother. She was a proud grandmother and great grandmother. She cherished the time spent with her family and friends. She will be lovingly remembered.
Dottie was the beloved wife of the late Robert A. Piper. She was the loving mother of Kathleen A. Smith of Wakefield, Robert A. Piper, Jr. & his wife Pam of Belmont, NH, Denis J. Piper of Lynn, and the late John C. Piper. She was the sister of Herbert “Sonny” Stearns & his wife Doris of Windsor Locks, CT. She was the proud grandmother of Daniel Smith of Everett, James Smith of Salem, Robert A. Piper, III, Joseph B. Piper, James P. Piper all of Belmont, NH and great grandmother of Julie Ann Smith of Salem.
Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Monday, June 23 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Sunday 4-7 p.m. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington. Memorials in Dottie’s name may be made to the MSPCA, 350 South Huntington Ave., Jamaica Plain, MA 02130.
