Obituary of John Harding
John Paul Harding, a 49 year resident of Woburn, passed away after a long illness at the E.N. Rogers Memorial Veteran’s Hospital in Bedford on Monday afternoon, July 7, 2008. He was 75 years old. John was born in Boston, the son of the late John A., and Catherine Harding. He grew up in Medford. He was a graduate of Medford High School where he participated in baseball and band. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He achieved the rank of Corporal and was the recipient of the Korean Service Medal with 1 Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, and the United Nations Service Medal.
John was worked for over 30 years as the Traffic Manager at Avco/ Textron Companies. After her his retirement, John, who had an out going and friendly personality could not stay at home. He worked part time at CMARC in Woburn driving adults with special needs to and from their work. He also worked part time at Burlington Florist as a flower delivery man.
John had a number of interests and activities. He was an assistant coach for the Woburn Youth Hockey Program. He loved sports and was a devote Red Sox fan. He loved going to Maine’s sea shore. He was a devoted family person who had just celebrated his 49th wedding anniversary in May. He was a loving and caring father and an extremely proud grandfather.
John was the husband of Margaret “Ruth” Holloran of Woburn. He was the devoted father of Paul Harding of Woburn and Patricia Harding-Wood & her husband Michael Wood of Woburn. He was the cherished grandfather of Michaela & Courtney Wood. A private family funeral mass was celebrated at St. Margaret’s Church, Burlington. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery, Winchester.
