Dr. Ramas V. Raman, a successful corporate executive for Entegris Corporation passed away suddenly on Thursday, August 21, 2008 at the age of 59. Ramas was born in Shantinikatan, West Bengal, India. He earned his Doctorate Degree in Materials Engineering. He was the Chairman of the ASM International Chapter in Santa Clara, CA and a member of the Boston chapter. He won numerous awards, authored numerous publications and holds several patents. He was the Director of OEM marketing for Praxair Electronics. He joined Surmet Corporation of Burlington, MA in 2003. He was currently a corporate executive for Entegris Inc.

He was the loving husband of Dale Raman of Santa Clara, CA. He was the father of Jay of Las Vegas, NV, Shawn of San Diego, CA, and Pamela of Santa Clara, CA. He was the brother of Ramaswamy Chandar, Mani Malti, Ramaswamy Sunder, Ramachandran Chandra, and Ramaswamy Bhooshan, all of India. He was the proud grandfather of Baron Raman of Las Vegas, NV. He was the nephew of Dr. Suri Sastri of Lexington, MA. A visiting hour will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn Street, Burlington, MA, on Friday, Aug. 29 from 9 to 10 a.m. Followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Relatives, friends, and coworkers are respectfully invited. Interment will be private.
