Obituary of John Sharpe

John R. Sharpe, member of the Carpenter’s Union Local 33, passed away after a brief illness at the Winchester hospital in Winchester on Saturday afternoon, October 7, 2006. He was 70 years old. John was born in Chelsea, the son of the late Mellen and Gladys Sharpe. He grew up in Revere. He served in the Marines during the Korean War. He was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal. John would come home to become a member of the Carpenters Union, Local 33. He specialized in acoustical ceilings and worked for numerous companies during his 35 years with the union. John and his wife settled in Burlington in 1963. He was member in a number of organizations in Burlington including the American Legion, Masons, and the Guys & Gals Bowling League. He was an avid hunter. He also served on Burlington’s Auxiliary Police. He treasured the time spent with his family. He always looked forward to the time spent with his grandchildren. John is the beloved husband of Roberta J. (Langis) Sharpe. He is the loving father of Charles Sharpe of Burlington, Diana & her husband Michael Manzi of Billerica, and John R. Sharpe, Jr. & his wife Ellen of Stoneham. He is the brother of June Sheldon of Lynnfield, Barbara Pineau of Revere, Dorothy Malcolm of Revere, Evelyn Gillespie of Georgetown, Marilyn Sheldon of Burlington, the late Eleanor Stone, James and Clifford Sharpe. He is the proud grandfather of Julianne, Nicholas, Christina, & John Manzi and Kenna Sharpe. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Wednesday, October 11 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8 p.m. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington. Memorials in John’s name may be made to the St. Margaret’s Building Fund, 111 Winn St., Burlington, MA 01803.
