Obituary of Robert Mahoney
Robert P. Mahoney, a resident of Woburn for 10 years, passed away at his home on Monday morning, July 20, 2009. The husband of 40 years of Carolyn (Vacca) he was 71 years old.
Bob was born in Boston. He was the son of the late Alexander and Mary Mahoney. He was raised and educated in Jamaica Plan and West Roxbury and lived in Somerville for many years until moving to Woburn. Bob was a Veteran of the Vietnam War serving his country in the United States Air Force. He was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal. Bob worked for the MBTA for over 40 years as an Inspector working mainly on the Greenline. Bob loved all sports most specially baseball. After his retirement he worked as an Usher for the Boston Red sox from 2000 – 2008. He was the recipient of 2 World Series watches from the Red Sox. He enjoyed fishing and coin collecting. Bob was an outgoing person who enjoyed many friendships. He will be lovingly missed by his family and friends.
Bob was the beloved husband of Carolyn C. (Vacca). He was the loving father of Kristen and Kerri Mahoney both of Woburn. He was the brother of Ann Marie Mahoney of Boston and Maureen Occhipinti of West Roxbury. He was the brother-in-law of William & Mary Vacca of Harpers Ferry, WV and Howard Martell of Woburn and & his wife the late Jean Martell. Bob was also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Thursday, July 23 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Barbara’s Church, 138 Cambridge Road, Woburn at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8 p.m. Interment in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.
