Obituary of Francis Manning

Francis X. Manning, Sr., dedicated his life to his family, community, and his church, passed away at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington on Friday afternoon, February 10, 2006. He was 77 years old. Mr. Manning was born in Boston, the son of the late Michael and Margaret Manning. He spent most of his life living in Somerville. He was a graduate of Saint Clement High School. He was very active at Saint Catherine’s Church serving a number of committees as well as the President of the Holy Name Society. He was a faithful supporter of the Little Sisters of the Poor in Somerville. He was a member of the Elks and was a Somerville Election Commissioner. Mr. Manning worked for over 25 years as an agent for John Hancock Insurance. He served his country in the Marines during the Korean War. After he retired, he moved to Burlington. He would soon join the Burlington Knights of Columbus, where he would meet new friends and support his new church and community. He served as Grand Knight of the Third Degree of the K of C and was currently holding the position of Faithful Navigator of the Fourth Degree of the K of C. He was always willing to lend time and support at the many activities and events held at the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Manning is the beloved husband of Teresa M. (Hannon). He is the loving father of Theresa A. Ramsell of Plymouth and Francis X. Manning, Jr. & his wife Faith of Burlington. He is the grandfather of Matthew and Andrew of Burlington. He is the brother of Margaret Grant of Harwich and the late Joseph Manning. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Malachy’s Church, 99 Bedford St., Burlington on Tuesday, Feb. 14 at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Interment in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Watertown. Visiting hours omitted. Memorials in Frank’s name may be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 186 Highland Ave, Somerville, MA 02143.
