Obituary of Ruby Lyons

Ruby L. Lyons, a woman whose life focused around her family and faith, passed away at her home on Monday morning, October 5, 2009. She was 78 years old. Ruby was born in North Carolina, the daughter of the late Arthur and Ann Lovelace. She was raised and educated in Charlotte, North Carolina. She met husband and they were married 55 years ago. They settled in Burlington in 1962 where they raised their five children. She had worked some, but considered herself a homemaker. She was a huge Boston sports fan, with the Red Sox on the top of her list. She enjoyed traveling with Hawaii and Europe being some of her favorite destinations. Ruby’s life revolved around her strong Christian faith. She was a very active member of the Heritage Park Baptist Church in Burlington. Her strong trust in God gave her great comfort over her lifetime. The other major part of her life was being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She made a warm and loving home for her family as well as their friends. She cherished the time spent as a family and always looked forward to the holidays and other events that would bring all her family together. She was a wonderful role model for her children and grandchildren. Her presence will be deeply missed. Ruby was the beloved wife of Herbert Lyons, Jr. of Burlington. She was the loving mother of Janice Pepler & her husband William of Merrimack, NH, Cheryl Mussilino & her husband Vincent of TX, Mitchell of Lowell, Gail Coneeny & her husband Kevin of Tewksbury, and Barry of Wichita, KS. She was the sister of Helen Elliot of Forest City, NC, the late Grace Swett, Gladys Byrum, Arthur, Kenneth, Raymond, Frank, and Bobby Lovelace. She was the proud grandmother of Christopher & Adam Mayo, Kevin & Emily Coneeny, Zachary, Ashley, and Alexandra Lyons. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Friday, October 9 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Funeral Service at the Heritage Park Baptist Church, 129 Lexington St., Burlington, at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Thursday 4-8 p.m. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington.
