Obituary of Joseph Mullaney

Joseph D. Mullaney, a longtime resident of Burlington, passed away at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center on Monday evening, Oct. 19, 2009. The husband of Donna (Jones) for 25 years, he was 75 years old. Known as “Joe” to his friends he was born, raised and educated in Somerville. He was the son of the late Patrick and Gertrude Mullaney. Joe served in the United States Army during the Korean War and earned the National Defense Service Medal as well as the Good Conduct Medal for his efforts. He went on to work at Honeywell Corporation as an Engineer for more than 30 years. Joe was an avid Boston sports fan and followed the Red Sox, the Bruins, and was a “die-hard” New England Patriots fan. He also enjoyed playing softball and basketball with the guys and playing a good game of chess during lunch. He loved to dance and was an excellent dancer. Joe was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather & friend who will be lovingly missed. Joe was the beloved husband of 25 years of Donna (Jones). He was the loving father of Charlene Ingram of Conway, NH, Cheryl Gallagher of Stoneham, Jody Mullaney of Goffstown, NH, Marie Landwermeyer of Clifton, VA, John Cozart of Atlanta, GA, Christopher Langhammer of Rochester, NH, Buddy Dejoie of Marshall Island, Marty Dejoie of Ft. Walton, FL, and the late Brian Cozart. He was the brother of William Mullaney of Somerville and the late David and Robert Mullaney & Celia Johnson. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and by the loves of his life his four legged friends; Charlie, Harry, Winslow & Aria. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Malachy’s Church, 99 Bedford St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Friday 4-8 p.m. Interment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
