Obituary of George Walsh

George C. Walsh, a resident of Burlington for 50 years, passed away at his home with his wife by his side on Wednesday morning, August 18, 2010. The beloved husband of 60 years of June L. (Hennessy), he was 87 years old. George was born in Dromore Ireland. He was the son of the late Leon and Mabel Walsh. George came to the United States as a child and his family settled in Arlington. He was a graduate of Arlington High School class of 1941. George was a Veteran of World War II serving his country in the United States Army. He was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon, American theater Campaign Ribbon and the Victory Medal. George was proud of his military service and worked for over 36 years Veterans Administration where he was responsible for supervising over 40 people. He was also a member of the American Legion, VFW, Knights of Columbus, DAV and AARP where he made many friendships. George took pride in his home and enjoyed working around his yard. In his younger years he enjoyed golfing. George was the beloved husband of 60 years of June L. (Hennessy). He was the loving brother of Ethel Bearisto of Waltham, Albert Walsh of Baltimore, MD & the late Leo “Tom” Walsh and James Walsh. Also survived by many nieces, nephews & friends. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Saturday, Aug. 21 at 11 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 12 Noon. Visiting hours Friday 4-8 p.m. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington.
