Obituary of Robert Browne
Robert Irving Browne, passed away at the Stanley Tippett House in Needham, on Thursday morning, December 30, 2010. The husband of the late Eleanor L. “Ellie” Browne, who passed away unexpectedly in March of 2010, he was 78 years old.
Bob was born and raised in Somerville. He was the son of the late Irving and Audrey Browne. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving his country in the United States Air Force where he achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. Bob went on to have a successful career as a Truck Driver as a member of Local 25. He worked for Lombard Bros in Cambridge and Malden. After his retirement Bob went to work as a Travel Consultant for 10 years at Arthur D. Little, Inc.
Bob had a number of interests. He was a member of the Masons, the Shiners’, and the American Legion. Bob had a love of the railroad and was a collector of trains. He was also a member of the North Shore Model Rail Road Club. Bob and his wife enjoyed spending their winters together in Florida. He was an active member of the Burlington Senior Citizens participating in many of their activities and trips and running their weekly Bingo. He also enjoyed taking trips to Foxwoods.
Bob is the beloved husband of the late Eleanor “Ellie” (Neves). Father of Robert Brown & his fiancée Jacqui Baxter of Dedham, Judith Ann Brown of Medford, and the late Dennis Brown. Brother of Beryl Browne of Arlington and Rosemary Tyler of FL. Favorite uncle of Carol Reddersen and Great uncle of Jenna Goddard both of CA. Also survived by 7 grand children and 7 great grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Friday, Jan. 14 at Noon. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bob’s name may be made to the Shriner’s Burn Institute, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA 02114.
