Obituary of Barbara Ann Tynan

Barbara Ann (LaCasse) Tynan passed away at the Woburn Nursing Center on Sunday evening, February 24, 2019. The beloved wife of the late James F. Tynan, she was 87 years old.

Barbara was born and raised in New Bedford.  She was one of two daughters born to the late Emil and Elsie LaCasse.   Barbara always had a nurturing nature and helped to care for her younger sister Elizabeth while her parents were working at the local mills.      Barbara married the “boy next store” James F. Tynan on September 11, 1954 in the middle of a “Hurricane Edna”.

Barbara and James purchased their first home in Millis. They eventually moved to Bedford where they lived for 65 years and raised their four children.    Barbara worked as an Administrative Assistant at Dynamic Sales in Burlington and as a Receptionist at Dr. Eagle’s in Bedford for over 15 years.   The Tynan family enjoyed taking camping trips to Maine, Virginia, Washington, D. C. and Hershey PA.  Barbara and the family always looked forward to their two week vacation each summer at Cape Cod camping at Nickerson State Park.   During their retirement years Barbara and James would spend their winters in Naples Florida where they had a large circle of friends.

Barbara had many interests.  She an avid quilter, loved to play cards and enjoyed a nightly game of cribbage.  She was a lover of animals most especially her Labrador retriever’s Shadow, Samantha, Abagaile, Molly and Lilly. She enjoyed a good joke and a good perfect Southern Comfort Manhattan. Barbara was a supportive and loving mother who instilled the value of higher education in all her four children.    Her two grandchildren Sean and Becky brought her great joy and she was so proud of both of them.  Barbara will be remembered as a strong and independent woman, who was an inspiration to her children and grandchildren.

The Tynan family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the Woburn Nursing Center especially Nurse Practioner Ann Marie Bourque and Helen Parker, Joe Cierri, Holly Mullen, Sherry Pesch, Susan Waldron and all the nursing aides on D Unit for their compassion and outstanding care to our mother in her final days and weeks.

Barbara was the beloved wife of the late James F. Tynan.   Loving mother of Barbara Tynan Baker & her husband Clay Baker of Nottingham, NH, Paul Tynan & his wife Brenda of Bellingham, Margaret Tynan of Woburn and the late James Tynan. Proud grandmother of Sean & Becky Tynan. Sister of Elizabeth Paladino of NJ. Also survived by nephew Carter Tune of NJ and niece Beth Tune Marotta of WA.
