Obituary of James J Hynes, Jr.

James J. Hynes, Jr. passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, May 7, 2019.  The beloved husband of the late Lauretta M. (Doyle) he was 91 years old.

Jim was born and raised in Somerville, one of two children born to the late James and Grace Hynes.  Jim was a graduate of Somerville High School.  After high school Jim served his country in the United States Air Force during World War II where he achieved the rank of Corporal.   Jim went on to receive his Associates Degree from Suffolk University.   In 1956 he would marry Lauretta Doyle and they would settle in the town of Burlington where they would raise their six children.

Jim worked for New England Telephone, which eventually became AT&T, and retired  in 1989.   Jim and his family owned a home and enjoyed spending time in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire.   They loved to swim, fish, and boat on Lake Wentworth.  Jim’s children have many happy memories of special times spent with their dad and just being together as a family in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. 

Jim was a history buff, loved to read books, and an avid Red Sox fan.  He had a quick wit, loved to make people laugh, and was the supportive strength of the family.  He was blessed to meet his first great grandchild who was recently born.  Jim will be remembered as a devoted husband, dad, and Pa.   

Jim was the beloved husband of the late Lauretta M. (Doyle).  Loving father of Edward Hynes of West Palm Beach, FL, Denise Fleisner & her husband Paul of Derry, NH, Donna Hart & her husband Mike of Happy Valley, OR, Susan Hynes of Burlington, James Hynes & his wife Dawn of The Woodlands, TX and Pamela Pastore & her husband Ralph of Wilmington.  Proud Pa of Shawn Fleisner & his wife Sarah, Megan Fleisner, Shannon Leary & her husband David, Kristin Hart, Austin & Tyler Hynes and Benjamin & Joseph Pastore.  Great Grandpa of Evelyn Fleisner.   Brother of the late Barbara Samp & her late husband Phil.  Brother-in-law of Carole & Bert Corrieri, Theodore & Chris Peluso, Mary & William Vacca and the late Patricia Peluso.  Jim is also survived by many nieces and nephews.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington on Saturday, May 11 at 10 a.m.  Burial to follow in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington.
