Obituary of Elizabeth French

Elizabeth T. (Pong) French, the daughter of the late Paul and Evelyn Pong, grew up in Grafton Massachusetts. She was a graduate of the Tewksbury State Hospital School of Nursing . As a nurse, she worked at the Long Island Hospital, the Lemuel Shattuck Hospital, and for more than 20 years at Winchester Hospital. Betty as she was known to all, married Edward French of Charlestown on September 22, 1956. Her family took early root in Charlestown and Dorchester. ln 1968, it was transplanted to Burlington to blossom. A vibrant mother and hostess, she spent summer weekends with family and friends at their small and always full Cape Cod cottage in Falmouth. Cheering on her son at his little league games led her not-shy, can-do side to take the mask and chest protector of umpire for a game. She loved dancing, and music and singing. Her wit, indomitable personality, and intelligence made her a favorite among all who knew her. Neither age nor time could slow her devotion and affection for her children and grandchildren, a devotion that was returned by her dedicated son, Edward, who lovingly cared for her at the their home for many years, then traveled with her to Michigan until the final call was made. Betty was the beloved wife of 56 years of Edward. She was the loving mother of Edward A. French of Burlington and Marilyn French & her husband John Ouellet of Oxford, MI. Sister of the late William Pong & Evelyn Constance Pong. Grandmother of Elizabeth Ouellet Whitkin & her husband Jonathon Whitkin of Boston; Eric Ouellet & his wife Jessica Hutchison Ouellet of Sanford, NC, and Leah & Carolyn Ouellet of Oxford, MI.
