Obituary of John Gedick

John R. Gedick a plumber with his family in Gedick Brothers & Sons Plumbing Co. passed away after a life long struggle with Cystic Fibrosis. He was 48 years old. John was born in Somerville and grew up in Burlington. He was a graduate of Burlington High School, Class of 1982. He worked in the family plumbing business for 25 years. He enjoyed working with his father, uncle and cousins. He married his wife Barbara and they have made Billerica their home for the past 18 years. John was happiest when he was spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed playing the drums and jamming with his friends in his basement. He was an avid Boston Sports fan. John will be remembered for his zany humor and wit. You never knew what humorous or edgy comment or joke was going to pour out of his mouth. Even in his hospital bed during his final days, his humor continued. He loved sitting around a campfire singing colorful songs that only John would know or dare to sing. He enjoyed family vacations on Lake Winnipesaukee. His life was filled with challenges caused from his Cystic Fibrosis, from playing sports, working, a double lung transplant, to simply breathing, but John continued to keep his life as normal as possible and not let his disease dampen his spirit. It was this fortitude that will endure in the hearts of all his family and friends. John was the loving husband of Barbara (Bibbey). He was the loving father of Toni-Anne Falzarano of Revere, Nicholas Falzarano, Shawna & Joshua Gedick all of Billerica and proud grandfather of Dominic Falzarano. He was the son of Marcia Gedick of Burlington and the late William “Brother” Gedick. He was the brother of William & his wife Karen of Billerica, Donna Manie & her husband Mike of Newton, Linda Cain &her fiancée Mike Capodilupo of Tewksbury, and Barbara McClay & her husband Wayne of Moultonborough, NH. He was the son-in-law of Nancy Bibbey of Burlington & the late William Bibbey and brother-in-law of Tom Cain of Tewksbury, Kathy, Michael, & Lisa Bibbey all of Burlington. John was also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128/95, Woburn side) on Wednesday, May 1 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Malachy’s Church, 99 Bedford St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. Interment in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica.
