Obituary of Mary Ann Gelormini

Mary Ann (Marashio) Gelormini aged 83, passed away affectionately surrounded by her children and grandchildren at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington on Monday, July 24, 2023.

Born in Lexington, Mary Ann was one of eight children to the late Paul and Lena Marashio. She grew up on the family farm in Lexington, ringed by many other family members owning homes within the neighborhood. Childhood was spent helping grow and tend vegetables and fruits for sale at the family farm stand on Lowell Street in Lexington. Her childhood home was a place she cherished and held many fond memories, to which many stories were regaled in.

Mary Ann married William (Bill) Gelormini on June 17, 1960. They settled in Burlington and went on to have children. While Bill was hard at work at the family business “Bill’s Auto” on Winn Street in Woburn, Mary Ann was busy raising their three children, Lisa, William (Billy) and Marc. She delighted in cooking all things Italian and was famous for her braciole and eggplant parmesan. Her liveliness was most obvious during the holiday seasons where she would host family gatherings and immerse herself in cooking for a week for the occasion! Along with her passion for cooking, she had 3 grandchildren to which she was always beam with pride and light up a room when mentioned.

Mary Ann’s best times were spent under the sun. She could often be found on weekends at her and Bill’s “lake house” on Newfound Lake in New Hampshire. Though they frequented the lake house throughout the year, Mary Ann escaped the bitter cold winters of New England by vacationing with Lisa in Aruba and enjoying precious time together on mother/daughter vacations every February and April.

Mary Ann will be remembered as a woman small in stature, only 4’10” but with an outgoing, feisty, generous, and passionate personality!

Mary Ann was the beloved wife of William M. Gelormini of Burlington. Loving mother to Lisa Winslow & her husband Carlton of Winchester, William Gelormini & his late wife Donna of Wilmington and Marc Gelormini & his wife Lucy of Atkinson, NH. She was the proud grandmother of Kaitlin, Micaela, and Cheyenne. Mary Ann was the sister of Paul “Sonny” Marashio of New Bedford, Angie Kenealy of Castleton, NY, Jean Tracey of West Dennis, Nancy Anderson of North Attleboro, Linda Marashio of Bolton and the late Pauline Anderson and Betty Napolitano. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Margaret’s Church, in St. Veronica Parish on Friday, July 28th at 10 a.m. Family and friends respectfully invited to attend. Services will conclude with a burial in Westview Cemetery in Lexington. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mary Ann’s name may be made to People Helping People, PO Box 343, Burlington, MA 01803.
