Obituary of Carole A. Corrieri

Carole A. (Doyle) Corrieri, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, August 1, 2023.  She was 84 years old.  Carole was born in Boston.  She was one of four daughters born to Edward and Lauretta Doyle.  She grew up in Somerville and was a graduate of Somerville High School.  She had a wonderful childhood and an extremely close bond with her sisters during her entire life.  She first met her future husband Bertrand “Bert” Corrieri at the age of 12 at a St. Polycarp CYO event.  Their relationship blossomed when he returned from the military.  They married in 1959.  They settled in Burlington in 1969 where they raised their son and daughter.  There were always yearly family summer vacations spent at Chanticleer on the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee with the Doyle Clan for two weeks and visiting her parents at their farm in Raymond, NH.

Carole’s life revolved around her family.  She was the matriarch.  She was the glue that kept the immediate and extended family bond strong and vital.  She was always thinking of others first and never wanted to leave anyone alone.  Her home was the gathering spot for her family and friends.  She hosted all the holidays and countless other gatherings.  Thanksgiving at her home could reach up to 50 guests during the day. Her backyard and pool were the gathering spots during the summer months.  Bert meticulously maintained the pool and yard, and Carole maintained and nurtured all her plantings and flower beds.  They once hosted an authentic clambake in their yard complete with a fire pit that even had a visit from the Burlington Fire Department.  She was a wonderful cook who believed cooking from scratch was the only way to cook.  Birthday dinners were special and memorable events.  Because Carole and Bert both grew up in the same neighborhood in Somerville, they both had the same circle of friends that remained close their entire lives.  The girls talked with Carole every day. Her neighbors all moved into the neighborhood around the same time, raised their children together, socialized, and aged together.  Carole will be remembered for her sassiness, formidable drive, caring personality, and love she showered upon her family and friends.  She will be sadly missed, but it gives her family comfort that she is once again reunited with her beloved husband, Bert.

Carole was the beloved wife of the late Bertrand L. “Bert” Corrieri. She was the loving mother of Kathy McLaughlin of Billerica and Bert Corrieri & his wife Elizabeth of Bradford. She was the sister of Mary Vacca of Harpers Ferry, WV, the late Lauretta Hynes and late Patricia Peluso.  She was the extremely proud grandmother of Jacki DiBartolomeo & her husband Jim, Shane McLaughlin & his wife Jess, Connor Corrieri, Austin Corrieri, and Aidan Corrieri. Great grandmother of Quinn and Rowan McLaughlin.

Funeral Services will be held at the Edward V Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn Burlington on Tuesday, August 8 at Noon.  Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 10 a.m. – Noon.  Services will conclude with burial in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington.
