Edward A. Malone, 86, a devoted family man, loving husband, father and grandfather known for his dedication to his family, passed away November 27, 2023.

He was born in Providence, RI on November 7, 1937 the son of the late Thomas and Jane (Duff) Malone. He was educated at LaSalle Academy in Providence, and Marianapolis Preparatory School in Thompson, CT before earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Providence College. A loyal hometown supporter, Edward could be found watching a PC Friars’ hockey or basketball game in between rooting for his beloved Red Sox, Bruins, or Patriots.

After graduating from college, he served in the United States Army at Fort Dix, followed by two years in the Army Reserves.

He began his career as an Auditor at HP Hood in Charlestown, MA, where he met his wife Rosalind in 1968.  After that, he worked at the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority, starting as Chief Auditor, and later being promoted to the Director of Internal Audit.  After over 25 years at the Turnpike Authority, he retired in 1996 and enjoyed many years of retirement..

While Edward was a private individual, his love for his family was evident in every aspect of his life. He was the most loving and committed dad; when his children were younger, he enjoyed coaching little league baseball for his son’s team and supporting and attending his daughter’s chorus concerts. He took great joy in being a grandfather, cherishing the moments spent with his grandchildren. His wisdom and kindness left a lasting impact on each family member, creating a legacy of love and warmth. He was also devoted to his Catholic faith and enjoyed going to Mass every weekend.

He played golf with friends and family for many years.  He enjoyed bowling and after retirement, bowled every Friday with the Retired Men’s Club of Arlington.  He was an avid walker his whole life: his daily strolls took him from the streets of Downtown Boston to the roads of Burlington, and he crossed paths with many friends on his daily treks.

Edward is survived by his loving wife, Rosalind (Kochakian) Malone of Burlington, son, Timothy Malone and his wife Joy of Livermore, CA., daughter, Christine Shearman and her husband Greg of Merrimack, NH., four grandchildren, Layla Malone, Mason Malone, Camryn Malone and Elizabeth Shearman. He is also a survived by his brother Thomas Malone and his wife Barbara of Warwick, RI., as well as several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his visitation on Monday, December 4, from 10:30Am to 11:30Am at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St. Burlington, followed by his Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 12 Noon at St. Margaret’s Church 111 Winn St. Burlington. Burial with military honors will follow in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington.
