Obituary of Louise A Elwell

Louise A. (Batchon) Elwell, 88, a native of Lynn, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in North Reading on Wednesday, January 17, 2024.

Born to the late Nageeb and Mabel (Sharib) Batchon in Lynn, Louise dedicated many years to creating a truly loving and warm home for her family, residing in Burlington for almost 60 years. She is survived by her loving daughter, Sharon Elwell, and son-in-law Martin Lusk of North Reading. She is predeceased by her late son, Wayne George Elwell, and late daughter, Linda Elwell Battaglia. She leaves behind cherished memories as "Cito" to Caitlyn Battaglia, Evan Kelley and his wife Hannah, Jonathan Battaglia, and Rebecca Kelley and her fiancé Tyler Capasso. Louise also takes pride in being a great grandmother to Raina June Kelley.

Louise was married to the late Bruce A. Elwell, a former stained-glass glazer and home remodeler. She actively supported Bruce in his business and projects. A passionate cook, she delighted in sharing her favorite Lebanese and Syrian dishes and recipes with her family. After Bruce's passing in 2012, Louise remained remarkably independent. Her love for music, particularly attending concerts featuring Tony Bennett and Johnny Mathis, brought her immense joy.

Louise's strength, optimistic outlook on life, and compassion for others were qualities passed down to her children. Her family held the utmost importance in her life, and she embraced the title of "Cito," relishing in babysitting her grandchildren when they were younger. Louise actively participated in her grandchildren’s lives, creating lasting memories, and her legacy of love will endure through her children and grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours from 9:45 AM to 10:15 AM on Saturday, January 27, at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St. Burlington. The funeral home service will follow the visitation at 10:15 AM, with burial following at Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at stjude.org/donate.
