Obituary of William Martin
William R. Martin, retired plant manager at Touraine Paints, passed away on Wednesday evening, June 5, 2013 at the age of 83.
William was born in Sterling, Massachusetts. He was raised and was educated in Charlestown. William spent over 40 years working at Touraine Paint’s manufacturing facility in Everett. He started at the bottom rung and over the years climbed the company ladder to varnish maker and finally Plant Manager. He took great pride in years of service, work ethic, and the many friends he had at the company. William had resided in Wilmington for the past 7 years. He had previously had made his home in Burlington for almost 48 years. He enjoyed raising his family in the small but growing community and was very active in the Burlington Knights of Columbus. He participated in all of the K of C’s fundraising events, socials, minstrel shows, and governance. He served as Grand Knight for one term. In his leisure time, William was an avid reader. He was a devoted and loving husband of 63 years to his late wife, Rosemary, who passed away in 2012. He was a proud and supportive father and blessed to see his grandchildren grow up and see the births of 5 great grandchildren.
William was the husband of the late Rosemary (Gareri) Martin. He was the loving father of Linda Lambert & her husband Thomas of Haverhill and Michael Martin & his wife Nancy of Burlington. He was the brother of Leo & his wife Ann of Charlestown, Robert Murray of FL, and Maryanne Newcomb & her husband Dale of FL. He was the proud grandfather of Christine Castro & her husband Tony, Eric Stafford & his wife Suzanna, Matthew Stafford, Sean Stafford & his wife Lisa, Joshua Martin and Julie Devault & her husband Jesse and great grandfather of Alanna, Carlie & Corey Stafford, Anthony Castro, and Brennen Devault.
Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128/95, Woburn side) on Monday, June 10 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Malachy Church, 99 Bedford St., Burlington at 10 am. Visiting hours Sunday from 3-6 p.m. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery, BURLINGTON. Memorials in William’s name may be made to the K of C Exceptional Children’s Fund, P.O. Box 25, Burlington, MA 01803.
