Jeanne A. Maloof Obituary

Jeanne A. (Mellone) Maloof, 79, a longtime resident of Billerica, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2024 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. She was the wife of the late Steve Maloof who passed away in 2006.

Jeanne was born in Allston, the daughter of the late Vincent and Rachel S. (Barba) Mellone. She was educated in the Allston school system and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Brookline. Over the course of her career she held mostly supervisory positions in diverse industries, ranging from the automotive supplies to the shoe import/export industry.

Jeanne was a devoted lover of animals, especially dogs, which she cherished like family. Her home was always open to a furry friend in need, and she found immense joy and companionship in their unconditional love. Her passion for animals was a reflection of her gentle spirit and her belief in caring for all living things.

Proud of her Italian heritage, Jeanne embodied the heart of Italian traditions, especially when it came to food. To her, food was love, and nothing made her happier than cooking for others. She was renowned for her delicious meals and cherished recipes passed down through generations. Every cookout that she and Steve hosted was a celebration of family and community, where laughter filled the air and plates were always full. Her home was a gathering place, especially during the holidays when she would host open houses, welcoming her nieces, nephews and loved ones with open arms. For Jeanne, these gatherings were about more than just good food, they were about creating a space of love, togetherness, and joy. Her nieces and nephews, whom she adored, will forever remember her as a second mother, someone who always had time to listen, share a laugh or offer a warm meal.

Jeanne also found peace and inspiration in the quiet of the Billerica Library. She was an avid reader who treasured her time surrounded by books, often losing herself in stories and finding joy in learning. Whether with a favorite novel or exploring new topics, the library was one of her cherished escapes where she could relax and nurture her curious spirit.

In addition to her husband and parents, Jeanne was predeceased by her brothers, Emidio “Mel’ Mellone and his wife Ellen and Raymond Mellone and his wife Barbara, her brothers-in-law, Michael Maloof and John Flynn, and sister-in-law Mary Maloof.

Jeanne is survived by her sister, Mary Flynn of Burlington, brother, Father Vincent Mellone, of Arundel ME, her in-laws, Cornelius Maloof and his wife Elizabeth, Margaret Cerulo, and Rosemary Maloof, as well as many special nieces and nephews, who were like children to her, cousins and friends.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her Funeral Mass on Saturday, September 28, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Malachy Church, 99 Bedford St., Burlington. Interment will be private and at the convenience of her family.
