Obituary of Theresa Anna Sullivan

Theresa Anna Sullivan nèe Lennon, 95, of Burlington, MA, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Born and raised in Jamaica Plain, Theresa was the beloved wife of the late Robert Sullivan and a devoted mother to Judy Sullivan of Burlington, the late Mark Sullivan, Sarah Sullivan and her husband Larry McColligan of Ocean Township, NJ, and Brian and his wife Lynn from Chelmsford, MA. She was the cherished grandmother of Brendan, Connor, Julia, Nathan, Katie, Finn, and Oona, and the proud great-grandmother of little Oliver. Her family was the center of her world, and she was the foundation on which they all leaned.

Theresa was the sister of Marguerite Ryan,Leo Vincent Lennon, Joseph Terrence Lennon, and Richard G. Lennon. She was a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews, including Rosemary Ryan Dunn, the late Sheila Ryan, James Ryan and the late Connie Ryan Love, Jay Navin, Nancy Beauchemin, Connie Hubble and Lisa Frecker. She was the beloved sister-in-law to Dick and Claudia Sullivan, Betty Navin, and Kay Lennon. Her bond with family was complemented by her lifelong love of reading, movies, and gardening. Known for her sharp mind and fierce spirit, she never turned down a game of Scrabble, (or a water fight) and she played to win! A proud woman of remarkable resilience and independence, she returned to school later in life, completing her bachelor’s degree at Northeastern University and graduating Summa cum Laude at the age of 60.

Theresa’s Irish roots were deeply important to her, as was her connection to Cape Cod, where she spent many treasured vacations. A private woman, Theresa valued her family and her close-knit friendships, and her gentle strength left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
