Obituary of Linda Darlene Doyle
With great sadness we announce that Linda Darlene Doyle (Chambers) of Burlington, MA passed away peacefully from cancer at the age of 76.
As a child she resided in Newton Corner with her parents, siblings and grandparents. She graduated from Newton North in 1966, graduated secretarial school in 1967 and married in 1969. She was proud of her high school job at the Baptist Home nursing facility, where she washed dishes and played games with the residents. Linda also worked as executive secretary to the vice president of Pepsi-Cola before leaving the workplace to focus on being a full time mother. Later when her kids were older she worked in the receiving department for Abbot Laboratories, where she would be in constant competition for the most laughs in her department. She had a love for music and movies.
She would listen to Barry Manilow, Neil Sedaka, ABBA, the Carpenters and Paul Anka croon for hours, but her favorite, was listening to the worship music from the Gaither Vocal Band, Sandi Patty and Darlene Zschech. Her favorite movie was Ben Hur and she would recount endlessly how her grandfather spent the day taking her into the city, when the movie premiered in Boston. At the age of 50 she visited Walt Disney World for the first time and enjoyed it so much that she was determined to make a Disney lover out of every single person she spoke with. Linda had a love for adventure and her famous words were, 'if we see the two yellow lines in the road we'll find our way home. This landed her family on countless hours of 'adventures'. She enjoyed many lunches out with her friends, who her children lovingly referred to as 'the church ladies gone wild'. Linda was a long standing member of Mount Hope formerly known as The Christian Center, where she briefly aided with teaching in the school as well as the mid week ministry program.
Linda is pre-deceased by her parents, Stanley and Geraldine Chambers, brother, Douglas Chambers and sister, Diane Maurice. She leaves behind her loving brother, Mark Chambers and his wife Debbie of Woburn, her former husband, Robert Doyle, Sr., daughter Cheryl Sheehan and husband Kevin of Burlington, daughter Brenda Lessard and husband Greg of Middleboro, and son Robert Doyle, Jr. and wife Stephanie of Bedford and nephews Paul and James Maurice of NH. Linda also leaves behind the most cherished loves of her life, her grandchildren, Thomas Sheehan, Sarah Lessard and Lily Doyle. She also sadly leaves Winston the family dog behind, without his daily Grandma treats.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her visiting hours Wednesday November 20th from 4pm to 7pm at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St. Burlington. Her Funeral Service will be Thursday at 10am at Mount Hope Christian Church, 3 McGinnis Drive. A burial service will be held privately with the family at Newton Cemetery.
