Obituary of Lucille "Dolly" R Wright

Lucille R. “Dolly” Wright, a vibrant and adventurous spirit, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by the love of her children, on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at the age of 94.  Dolly’s remarkable journey spanned not only many places but many hearts—she touched everyone she met with her boundless energy and zest for life.  A resident of Billerica, MA, Dolly also called Burlington, MA, Arlington, MA, Jupiter, FL, and St. Thomas home over the years.

Born in Arlington, MA, to Maria and Gregory Lomanno, Dolly was the youngest of six children. She graduated from Arlington High School in 1949, where she remained connected to her roots, taking an active role in organizing class reunions for decades, and serving on the Class of 1949 Scholarship Committee. Dolly’s sense of community and devotion to her classmates was unwavering.

On June 16, 1951, Dolly married Alex K. Wright, and together, they raised their four children in Burlington, MA.  A passionate Red Sox fan, Dolly found joy in the simple pleasures of life—whether it was basking in the beauty of the ocean, loving animals, or sharing moments of laughter with family and friends.

Dolly’s spirit was one of adventure. She embraced every opportunity life presented, never shying away from new experiences. For 14 winters, she lived in St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands, where she never let the pace slow down. Dolly worked part-time on the “Kon Tiki” party boat, delighting in the excitement of the guests and helping them create lasting memories. She also traveled to neighboring Caribbean islands, soaking in the sun and spirit of each new place.

In her later years, Dolly made Jupiter, Florida, her winter home, where she spent 33 years volunteering at the local community center and the Moose Club in Palm Beach County. She found joy in the friendships she made, the beaches she adored, and the vibrant social life she led. Dolly’s wanderlust never stopped, and her travels took her across the United States and Europe.

When she wasn’t on the move, Dolly had a deep love for reading, with her favorite genre being historical fiction.  A true adventurer at heart, Dolly will be remembered for her unshakeable enthusiasm, her love of life, and her devotion to family. Her legacy of joy, love, and adventure will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Dolly was the wife of the late Alex K Wright. She was predeceased by her siblings Leo Lomanno who passed in service during WW II, Angela Glynn, Helen Morgan, Pauline Barton, and Marguerite Wegman. She was survived by her children, Robert Wright and his wife Judy of Reading, Steven Wright of Carlisle, Richard Wright and his wife Liane of Milford, NH, and Mary Lu DelPozzo and her husband John of Palm Beach Gardens, FL. She was the proud grandmother of Nicholas DelPozzo, Matthew DelPozzo, and Tessa Wright. She had recently just welcomed her first great-granddaughter, Giulia DelPozzo. She was also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her visiting hours on Monday, February 17 th , from 4pm to 7pm at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St. Burlington, MA 01803. Her funeral service will begin from the funeral home on Tuesday February 18 th at 9 am with a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. Margaret Church in St. Veronica Parish, 111 Winn St. Burlington at 10am.
