Obituary of Joseph Harrington

Joseph Harrington, (Joey) a man known for his quick wit, infectious laughter, and boundless energy, passed away Tuesday, March 4. He left behind a lifetime of cherished memories and laughter.

He was born in Somerville, the son of the late Doris (McKeen) and Joseph Harrington. He was educated in the Burlington school system and graduated from Shawsheen Valley Technical High School in Billerica. He was employed for many years as a truck driver for the teamsters union.

A natural entertainer, Joey had an incredible sense of humor and loved nothing more than bringing joy to those around him. Whether it was through a well-timed joke, a clever remark, or one of his infamous prank phone calls as “Mark Wilson”, he had an uncanny ability to make people laugh. His presence could light up any room, and he was truly the life of every party.

Beyond his humor, Joey was deeply patriotic and held a strong love for his country. His loyalty was unwavering, whether it was to his family, friends, or the ideals he believed in. He had a profound appreciation for history and was always eager to share fascinating stories about the past. He also had a keen interest in current events and enjoyed keeping up with the news, always ready to engage in thought-provoking discussions.

He had a deep bond with his late dog, Rocky. Joey would bring Rocky everywhere with him, including job sites. It wasn’t odd to see Rocky in a cement truck, plow truck or any vehicle assisting as the truck driver’s aid.

Joey’s charisma and charm made him someone people naturally gravitated toward. His warmth and energy were contagious, and his ability to bring people together was a rare gift. Those who knew him will always remember the joy he brought into their lives, the jokes that left them in stitches, and the unwavering loyalty he showed to those he cared about.

Joey loved to be involved in his nieces and nephew’s lives. He would consistently call and check in with his sisters and see how his nieces and nephews were doing. His time spent with them was always appreciated and held a special place in Joey’s heart.

He is survived by his sisters, Deborah “Debbie” Harrington and her husband Richard Renaud of Burlington, Catherine “Cathy” O’Neil and her husband, Christopher of Burlington, Diane Itrato and her husband Paul of Billerica and Doris Cucinotta and her husband Anthony of Burlington, a brother, James Harrington of Arlington,10 nieces, and nephews, 1 great niece and countless friends, especially John and Phil Carroll who were more family than friends.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his visiting hours on Friday, March 14th from 10:30am to 11:30am at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington. His Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12 Noon In St. Veronica’s Parish at St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington. Burial will follow in Chestnut Hill Cemetery.
