Obituary of Bridget "Breda" McDonough

Bridget “Breda” (Crosby) McDonough, of Woburn, passed away on Monday, April 14, 2025, at the age of 75.

Born in Newmarket-on-Fergus, Ireland with four brothers. Bridget came to the United States as a teenager to live with her aunt in Watertown. Bridget’s son Sean was her pride and joy.  She worked hard to raise him well and they lived in Watertown and Arlington.  She later worked as the Activities Director at Youville Place Assisted Living Residences in Lexington. It was there that she met her co-worker, Paul McDonough, who later became her husband. The two married in 2006, made their home in Woburn, and shared a wonderful life together.

Bridget and Paul enjoyed playing Keno, spending time at York Beach, (where they got married) Salisbury Beach and dining at local restaurants. Bridget was active in the Woburn American Legion Post 101, where she worked as a bartender and participated in various events alongside fellow Legion members.

She deeply loved Paul’s family, who in turn embraced her and her son as their own. After Paul's passing in 2022, they continued to surround her with love and support. In addition to being a devoted mother to Sean, she was so excited to be a grandmother. She cherished family gatherings, holidays, and cookouts spent with loved ones and friends.

Bridget also enjoyed traveling.  She returned to Ireland over the years to visit family and friends, always holding her homeland close to her heart. She loved the warmth of the sun. She was able to travel to Jamaica and Florida where she could enjoy the warm, sunny weather.

Bridget was the beloved wife of the late Paul McDonough.  She was the mother of the late Sean Carney.  She was the stepmother of Michelle Keefe & her husband Brian of Nashua, NH, Alissa Morris & her husband Chris of Hudson, NH and Jessica Phillips & her husband Evelings of Bedford.  She was the proud grandmother of Nelson, Brian, Chris, Aaliyah, Mikayla & Cameron.

Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington on Monday, April 21 from 10 to 11 a.m.  Concluding with Funeral Services at 11 a.m.  Burial to follow in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington.
