Obituary of Helen Marie Clancy

Helen Marie (Weiss) Clancy, of Wilmington, formerly of Burlington, passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2025. She was 77 years old.

Helen was born in New Jersey. She and her sister were raised by their loving and hardworking mother, Helen Weiss. She grew up in Cambridge where she met and married the love of her life, Kenneth Patrick Clancy.  They settled in Burlington, where they raised their three children and built a loving home.

Family was Helen’s top priority. She chose to stay home with her children, providing a nurturing and supportive environment. She later enjoyed employment with the Burlington Public Schools as a cafeteria manager where she made some great friends.

Helen and Ken spent a lot of time with their families, there Cambridge friends and their Freeport Drive neighbors. The couple loved taking weekend trips to Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun, enjoyed longer getaways to Atlantic City, Las Vegas, Lake Tahoe and Florida. They also enjoyed cruising to Bermuda and the Caribbean.

Helen was deeply devoted to her children and grandchildren. She hosted weekly pasta dinners, where three generations would gather to share a meal and catch up on the week's events. She especially loved celebrating holidays, birthdays, and any special occasion that brought the family together. Always ready to lend a helping hand, she played an active role in caring for her grandchildren.

Helen had a green thumb and looked forward to spring each year so she could get outside and plant. Flowers and vegetables filled her yard all summer long. Helen always had pets in her home and later in life loved her children's pets as her own. She enjoyed working on puzzles, watching mystery shows, and playing games on her computer.

When Ken passed in 2018, a piece of her heart went with him.  Her family finds comfort in knowing she is now reunited with him.

Helen was the beloved wife of 48 years of Kenneth Patrick Clancy.  She was the loving mother of Lisa Bertolami & her husband John of Wilmington, Kenny Clancy & his wife Michelle of Nashua, NH, and Kristina Bertolami & her husband Michael of Newburyport.  She was the sister of the late Barbara Samalis.  She was the loving grandmother of Nicole Wilson & her husband Austin, Jack, Gina, Olivia, & Lucia Bertolami, and Ryder & Kailey Clancy.  She was the great grandmother of Ava and Everlee Wilson.

Visiting hours will be held at the edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home on Thursday, April 24 from 10:30 a.m. to Noon.  Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Margaret Church in St. Veronica Parish, 111 Winn Street, Burlington at 12:30 p.m. Services will conclude with a burial at Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington.
