Obituary of Florence Lash

Florence Rita (McGilvray) Lash passed away peacefully at her home on August 13, 2013 surrounded by her family. The beloved wife of 53 years of Robert E. Lash she was 76 years old. Florence was born, raised and educated in Waltham. She was the daughter of the late Florence (LaRosee) McGilvray and Reece McGilvray. Florence and her husband Bob settled in Burlington in 1961 where they raised their four children. Florence enjoyed baking, family dinners, holidays, camping, reading, word searches and doing puzzles. She enthusiastically followed the Boston Red Sox. The joy of her life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a long time employee of Dunkin Donuts in Burlington, Massachusetts working for many years at “Center Dunk” on Cambridge St. During the past 10 years Florence and Bob enjoyed spending their winter months visiting their sons in Orlando and Deerfield Beach, Florida. She was a great lover of children and supported many children’s charities over the years. Florence will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Florence and her family would like to extend their love and appreciation to the many family members, friends, and hospice care providers who made Florence’s last days beautiful ones. Florence was the beloved wife of 53 years of Robert E. Lash. Together Florence and Robert raised four children, Robert E. Lash, Jr. of Windemere, FL, Janet M. Lash & her husband Esteban Dominguez of Londonderry, NH, Peter J. Lash & his wife Faye of Deerfield Beach, FL and Deborah L. Lash & her husband David Coughlin of Billerica. Daughter of the late Florence (LaRosee) McGilvray & Reece McGilvray. Nana was very present in the lives of her eight grandchildren: Robert E. Lash, III; Marianna Dominguez Lash, Esteban “Alex” Dominguez Lash; Johnathan P. Lash, Nicholas D. Lash, Sarah G. Lash and Ivy G. Coughlin and Jasper S. Coughlin. Sister of Raymond McGilvray & his wife Rita of NH, Kenneth McGilvary & his wife Maryann of Yarmouthport, Ronald McGilvray & his wife Mary of North Attleboro and Robert McGilvray of Marlborough and the late Reece McGilvray, Jr., Thomas McGilvray, Sylva Langevin & her husband Ernest, Sr. Janet McGilvray RCE and Martha Tambascio. Sister-in law of Olive (Lash) Donatelli & her husband Adrian of Uxbridge, Kay McGilvray of Holliston , Joseph Tambascio of Framingham, Nancy Kelly of FL and the late Frances and Louise Lash & John and Yvonne Lash. Also survived by 30 beloved nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Saturday, Aug. 17 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Malachy Church, 99 Bedford St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Friday 4-8 p.m. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington.
