Obituary of Ann Marie Moniuk

Ann Marie Moniuk of Burlington, MA passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 25, 2025, at the age of 78.

Born in Jamaica Plain to the late Anne (Charbonnier) and Richard Harrold, Ann Marie was raised in Charlestown and brought her vivacious, fun-loving spirit into every chapter of her life. She met her husband, Steve Moniuk, at the Clover Club in Salisbury while on vacation with friends - a serendipitous meeting that led to a beautiful life together.

Ann Marie and Steve lived in Arlington and Acton before settling in Burlington after the birth of their daughter Stephanie. They later welcomed a second daughter, Alycia, and Ann Marie poured herself into motherhood with a passion. She was a PTO president, Brownie and Girl Scout leader, Halloween costume maker extraordinaire, and the center of every social gathering.

Her love of music, especially disco, was unmatched. She danced through life to the rhythm of KC and the Sunshine Band, never missing a summer concert. She was also a fierce tennis player and founded “Jackpot Tennis,” a women’s competitive league where matches were played for prize money.

She loved spending summers with her husband and children at Popponesset Beach and Point Sebago, making memories that lasted a lifetime. In later years, she and Steve cherished their getaways to Ogunquit, Maine - strolling along Marginal Way and taking in performances at the Ogunquit Playhouse, where they held season tickets and never missed a show.

Together, Ann Marie and Steve shared many adventures, including traveling every summer to drum corps shows across the eastern United States. They loved the music, the energy, and the tradition - turning each show into a mini road trip, complete with their own running commentary and favorite snacks.

Ann Marie had a special love for animals, especially the ones that became part of daily life. Over the years, her home was shared with a long line of beloved pets - each one spoiled, cherished, and treated like family. But it wasn’t just the animals inside that stole her heart. Outside, she made it her mission to keep the backyard wildlife well-fed and happy. Birds, squirrels, chipmunks, groundhogs, raccoons, and even the occasional deer knew they’d find a safe haven and plenty of snacks at her house. This, of course, was much to Steve’s dismay, as a dedicated gardener whose flowers and vegetables often became part of the buffet.

Ann Marie will be remembered for her electric energy, quick wit, and the way she made everyone feel welcome, loved, and ready to dance. Her legacy lives on in her devoted husband Steve, her daughters Stephanie and Alycia, and the many friends and family members who were lucky enough to be part of her orbit.

Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn Street, Burlington on Thursday, May 1 from 4-7 p.m.  Funeral from the Sullivan Funeral Home on Friday May 2 at 9 a.m. and will conclude with a Funeral Mass at St. Margaret Church in St. Veronica Parish, www.stveronicama.org, 111 Winn Street, Burlington at 10 a.m.  Ann Marie will be laid to rest at the Holy Cross Cemetery Mausoleum at a later date.  For online guestbook and video tribute see www.sullivanfuneralhome.net
