Obituary of David J. "Dave" Barbuzzi

David J. Barbuzzi passed peacefully on Monday, June 16, 2025 at the age of 61, surrounded by family after a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer. Dave is survived by his wife, Jean Desharnais Barbuzzi, sons Domenic and Anthony, daughter-in-law Lisa Barbuzzi, grandchildren Sasuke, Ryuk, and Kairi Barbuzzi, sister Donna Elliott, brother Donald Barbuzzi and his wife Karen, as well as nieces and great nieces and nephews.

Dave was blessed to have his son Domenic and Domenic’s girlfriend Nicole Williams living with him and his wife Jean. A family man, he was full of joy when they sat down together for movie night or enjoyed a meal together. He was also thrilled anytime his granddaughter Kairi would facetime him while under the covers when everyone else was sleeping. Kairi was his “princess”.

Dave was a letter carrier with the United States Postal Service for 35 years, having retired in 2023. Shortly after joining the postal service, Dave became active in the National Association of Letter Carriers rising to President of his local Branch 25 from 2011-2022. After that, he accepted a position with the National Union, serving as a Regional Workers’ Compensation Assistant for all of New England, Ohio, and upstate New York. His duties for the Union brought him great satisfaction and pride. He was always available to help a letter carrier.

Dave was passionate about photography. He did professional work at times but mostly enjoyed providing images to people free of charge. He focused on dog sport, as when he got his first German Shepherd they spent many hours training obedience. He was happiest behind the camera photographing training or competition at Foxhill Farm and K9 in Amesbury, MA.

Dave faced his illness with grace, dignity, humility and fire. He often commented that he was eternally grateful to his wife Jean who was his rock, his family, and the so many people that would come by to pass some time with him or text or call him.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, June 23, from 4-7 pm at Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn Street, Burlington. A Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 24, at 11 am, followed by burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.  For online guestbook and video tribute, please visit www.sullivanfuneralhome.net.
