Gordon Brown Obituary

On July 6, 2025, Gordon Brown passed away peacefully with his family by his side.


He was born and raised in Woburn, MA, graduating from Woburn High School in 1954.  He played football and ran track, and was a member of the undefeated relay team.  He continued his education at Northeastern and Cornell University.


He was a proud member of the United States Army National Guard, serving his country honorably for 10 years.  He married Eileen Doucet from Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada in 1958.  They were blessed with three children, Douglas Brown and his wife Patricia of Rancho Santa-Fe, CA, Mark Brown of Brookfield, CT, and Deb Brown of Enfield, NH; two grandsons, Doug Jr., and Chris Brown both of Seattle, WA.


The Browns were a camping and skiing family.  Camping throughout the Maritimes, Northern Ontario, Yosemite, and Cape Cod.  They also skied throughout New England, New Mexico, California, Utah, and up into Canada.  In 2017 Gordon went skiing and snowshoeing at Big White in British Columbia.


Gordon spent over 45 years in the retail business.  The last eight years as owner of the White Mountain Creamery Company, which was named as one of the “Best of Boston” winners. While not busy at work he gave back to his community, he was very active in the Boy Scouts and was a troop leader of troop 103.


He was the brother of the late Robert Brown, Natalie Jenkins, Marion Lafayette and Janet Maguire. In addition to his children and grandchildren, He is survived by nieces and nephews in Wisconsin in particular Barbara Maguire who offered regular loving support to Gordon.


Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation on Saturday, July 12th from 11:30am to 1pm at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn Street, Burlington.  His Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home at 1pm. 


As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations in Gordon’s honor may be made to either Boston Children’s Hospital at www.childrenshospital.org or to the Mass Audubon Society at web.massaudubon.org.


His family would like to express sincere appreciation to the Nursing Staff at Compassionate Care of the North Shore as well as all care providers at Evergreen Terrace 2nd floor, Brae Burn Gardens, Brooksby Village, Peabody MA.
