Richard E. Morine, 96, of Burlington, passed away peacefully, On Tuesday, July 22, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of quiet strength, integrity, and unwavering commitment to his family. He was the devoted husband of 60 plus years to Barbara (Emmons) Morine, with whom he built a life rooted in love, hard work, and mutual respect.
Born and raised in Malden, Richard was the son of the late George E. and Marion F. (Cole) Morine. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served honorably during the Korean War, stationed in Greenland as a radio tower technician. His natural affinity for electronics would not only define his military service but also shape his professional career.
Following his discharge, fate played a kind hand when Richard was introduced to Barbara through their mothers, who shared a church group. The connection was instant, and the two were soon married. They settled in Burlington, where they raised their four children, Cheryl, Kenneth, Kimberly, and Lynne, with a solid foundation of values and a steady moral compass. Richard was not overly sentimental, but his presence was constant and supportive. He guided his children with a quiet firmness and was always ready to help them navigate life’s choices.
A true New Englander at heart, Richard loved the Red Sox and followed them loyally through the ups and downs of many seasons. He shared special times with his son Kenneth, especially during fishing trips, though Richard himself didn’t fish much, he never let that stop him from supporting Kenneth’s passion, even enduring deep sea fishing trips despite his susceptibility to seasickness.
Professionally, Richard dedicated many years to Lahey Hospital, where he rose to become lead of the electronics department. Retirement didn’t quite suit him, and after a brief attempt at slowing down, he returned to Lahey in a part-time role. He thrived on staying active and useful.
An accomplished natural athlete, Richard had a talent for just about every sport he tried. In his younger years, he water-skied at Bow Lake and bowled candlepin with ease. Later in life, he turned to golf, approaching it with the same quiet determination he brought to everything else. Despite his talent, he was remarkably humble, never boasting about his abilities.
Away from the physical world, Richard kept his mind sharp through games of cribbage and his more introverted passions, stamp and coin collecting and researching family history. He was the family genealogist, spending countless hours tracing roots on Ancestry.com, preserving the Morine legacy for generations to come.
Richard was predeceased by his sister Frances Daizell and her husband Howard, as well as a son in law Ted Madden
He Is survived by his beloved wife Barbara of Burlington, his children Cheryl Madden and her partner Kenneth Gerace of Ayer, MA, Kenneth Morine and his wife Pamela of Tyngsboro, Kimberly Rowe and her husband David of Woburn, and Lynne Patrizio and her husband Sal of Woburn, a sister Joan Savage and her husband Harry of NH, 10 grandchildren, Teddy “TJ” Madden, Brian Madden, Derrick Madden, Nicholas Morine, Zachary Morine, Hannah Morine, Connor Morine, Megan Rowe, Sabrina Patrizio and Michael Patrizio, four great-grandchildren, Isla, Kaia, Noah and Jack Madden as well as several nieces and nephews.
