Claire S. Casperson Obituary

Claire S. (Greaves) Casperson, 80, of Burlington, a devoted mother, cherished grandmother, and great Grandmother passed away peacefully early Friday morning, July 25. She was born in Waltham, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late Arthur Gordon Greaves and the late Pauline (Deveny) Greaves.

Claire was the beloved wife of 46 years to the late Maurice Casperson, who passed away in October of 2013. Their marriage was a beautiful partnership, filled with love, laughter, and shared passions, including their fondness for square dancing and joyful summers spent at the family camp house in Littleton. Those gatherings became treasured traditions, bringing together not just their own family but her sisters and their families as well.

A nurturing soul with a strong sense of purpose, Claire operated a day care center from her home for many years, caring for and shaping the lives of countless children. She brought the same dedication to her role as a mother, serving as a den mother to all three of her sons. She was always fully present, supportive, engaged, and deeply committed to her family.

Claire also had a vibrant creative spirit. She was a gifted painter and ceramic sculptor and talented artist who not only created art but found joy in teaching others. Whether guiding someone through their first brushstroke or helping them shape a piece of clay, she found fulfillment in sharing her knowledge and sparking creativity in others.

Family was the center of Claire’s world. She adored her grandchildren and was their constant cheerleader, offering encouragement, wisdom, and love at every stage of their lives. Becoming a great-grandmother brought her even more joy and pride.

In addition to her loving husband, Claire was predeceased by her sisters Barbara McElman, Ruth Eaton and Brother in law Wayne (Edward) Eaton.

She is survived by her three sons, Peter Casperson and his wife Christine, Andrew Casperson and his wife Andrea, and Matthew Casperson and his wife Bonnie. Five grandchildren, Brandon, Alexander and his wife Melissa, Andrew “AJ”, Alexis and Jude Casperson. Great grandson, Logan Casperson.  Two brothers-in-laws, Paul Casperson and Don McElman.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her visiting hours on Saturday, August 2, from 11:30am to 1pm at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home Burlington, A graveside service will follow the visitation at 1:30Pm in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington.
