Elena "Ellie" J. Mastrullo Obituary

Elena J. Mastrullo, age 70, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Lowell General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony F. Mastrullo, with whom she shared 46 wonderful years of marriage before his passing in 2019.

Born in Boston on July 1, 1955, she was the daughter of Elaine (Palermo) Cenci and the late John Cenci. A proud graduate of Billerica High School, Class of 1973, Ellie was deeply rooted in family and tradition. She began helping at her father’s and grandparents’ bakery at a young age and officially joined Cenci’s Bakery at just 16. Her dedication and passion for baking reflected the heart of the family business. Cenci’s Bakery, a beloved staple in Burlington for 43 years, was a place filled with warmth, laughter, and community spirit—something Ellie helped cultivate across four generations until the bakery’s closing in 2000.

Ellie also spent 26 years at Café Escadrille, where she took pride in her work caring for the restaurant’s linen products, always bringing diligence and heart to everything she did.

In her free time, Ellie loved watching her favorite TV shows, listening to music—especially Journey—and cooking unforgettable Italian meals. Her sauce, meatballs, and lasagna were legendary in her family. She was an enthusiastic Patriots fan and a proud supporter of her children’s activities in dance and golf.

A lifelong beach lover, Ellie found great joy at Hills Beach in Biddeford, ME, sunny Wednesdays at Salisbury Beach, and getaways to Florida. But more than anything, Ellie cherished her role as a devoted mother and grandmother. She adored her grandchildren, never missing a chance to babysit or create meaningful, lasting memories.

Ellie will be remembered for her kind heart, gentle spirit, and deep love for her family and friends. Though quiet by nature, her warmth, compassion, and infectious laugh made every space brighter.

She is survived by her mother, Elaine (Palermo) Cenci; her children, Kimberly Valente and her husband Louis of Dracut, and A.J. Mastrullo and his wife Ashley of Kingston, NH; and her beloved grandchildren, Louis, Domenic, Giovanni, Kayleigh, and John. She is also survived by her sisters, Lori Cenci of Chelmsford and Nannette Beard and her husband Lou of Old Orchard Beach, ME; her godson, Alek Beard; and many dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.

She was the beloved sister-in-law of Joseph and Karen Mastrullo of Ashby, Betty and Jack Sharry of Lowell, and the late Debbie Nelson.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Thursday, July 31st at 10 a.m. at St. Theresa’s Church, 466 Boston Rd., Billerica. A burial will follow immediately at Fox Hill Cemetery, 130 Andover Rd., Billerica.
