Mary L Boogaard Obituary

Mary L Boogaard passed away at home surrounded by her family on Friday August 8, 2025.  Mary was the beloved wife of Raymond Boogaard for 59 years. She was 79 years old.

Mary was born and raised in Arlington, Massachusetts. She was the daughter of John and Mary D’Errico.  Mary was a graduate of Arlington High School as well as a graduate of Beauty School. After graduating Mary began her career as a hairdresser at a local salon before opening her own salon in Arlington – Park Avenue Salon.  With hard work and determination, she later relocated the salon to Lexington where she built a thriving business and community of loyal clients until her retirement in 2021.

Mary and Ray began their married life in Arlington before purchasing their forever home in Burlington in 1985.  Mary and Ray were best friends and their love for each other was apparent to everyone who knew them.  They were inseparable, you never saw one without the other. Above all, Mary was devoted to her family.  She and Ray were a true team, always side by side, sharing passions like dancing, bowling and gardening.  They cherished their family time having Sunday dinners after days at Grammy’s pool. One of her favorite memories was their family vacations to Disney World, North Conway and their day trips to Wingaersheek and Good Harbor Beach.

Family was the most important part of her life.  She would sacrifice her own needs to ensure her family had what they needed.  Mary loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She played games, hosted sleepovers and spoiled each and every one of them.

Mary was the beloved wife of the late Raymond C. Boogaard.  She was the loving and supportive mother of Darlene Harring & her husband Philip of Chelmsford, Christine Talbot & her husband Thomas of Tewksbury, and Holly Boogaard Tienhaara & her husband Peter of Tewksbury.  She was the proud Nana to Christopher, Mark, Philip Jr., Ryan, Alesha, Ashley, Raeanna and Rylie.  She was the great grandmother of Christopher, Jayce, Audriana, and soon to be Baby Duprez.  She was the sister of Rosemarie Murphy of Burlington & her late husband Edward, Elizabeth Bagni & her husband Richard of Burlington, and the late John D’Errico Jr. She was also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn Street, Burlington on Wednesday, August 13 from 4-7pm.  Funeral from the Sullivan Funeral Home on Thursday, August 14 at 8:45am.  Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Theresa’s Church, 466 Boston Rd., Billerica at 10am.
