Francis "Frank" W. Trelegan Obituary

Francis “Frank” W. Trelegan, age 71, passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2025, following a rapid and courageous battle with cancer.  He was the beloved husband of Amal (Shallah) Trelegan, with whom he shared over 44 beautiful years of marriage.

Born in Cambridge, MA on July 30, 1954, he was the son of the late Francis Trelegan and Mary (McClafferty) Fitzpatrick.  In his younger years, Frank was a free-spirited person who embraced life to the fullest. When he met his wife, Amal, his desire to have a slower, steadier lifestyle and a loving family emerged.

Frank and Amal were married in 1981, and settled down to raise their two sons in Burlington in 1985.  He worked as a meat cutter for over five decades, spending a majority of his career at Dole and Bailey in Woburn, and retired at Whole Foods in Bedford.  Although he took pride in his work, his greatest joy was spending time with his family.  As a father- and simply as a person- you could always count on him.  Whether you just needed someone to talk to or a leaky faucet repaired, he would always be there when needed.  When his grandchildren came along, Frank’s ability to say “no” seemed to wane even more, if that was possible.  No matter what he was doing, if the grandkids wanted to be with him, they became the most important part of his day.

As Frank grew older, he relished in the freedom of riding his motorcycle on the open road and getting out on the water with his boat, especially on the Charles River.  He and Amal enjoyed taking day trips together to various places around New England.  They also enjoyed vacationing to the Caribbean; as long as Frank was by the water and with his loving wife, he was happy.  More than anything else though, Frank loved his family.  He was truly devoted to being the most fun-loving and supportive husband, father, and grandfather he could be, and effortlessly made countless, wonderful memories with them all.

Along with his dear wife, Amal, Frank is survived by his two loving sons, William Trelegan and his wife Elizabete of Burlington, and Colin Trelegan and his wife Nicole of Tewksbury; his five cherished grandchildren, Amelia, Jorge, Isabel, Wesley, and Casey Trelegan; his siblings, Maryellen Biletch, Maureen Matyuf, and Brian Trelegan, along with many other dear family and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Visitation on Tuesday, August 26th from 5 pm until 7 pm at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St, Burlington.  His Funeral will begin at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 27th at 9 am with a Mass to follow at 10 am at St. Malachy Church, 99 Bedford St., Burlington.  Burial will follow in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington.  As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations in Frank’s honor may be made to either St. Veronica Parish or to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
