Joshua W. Tripi, 53, of Woburn, passed away on Tuesday, September 2, leaving behind a life story defined by courage, determination, and love. His presence enriched the lives of all who knew him, and his memory will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have shared in his journey.

Born in Brighton, Joshua was the cherished son of the late Jack L. and Patricia A. (Watts) Tripi. From the start, Joshua’s life was marked by resilience. He was born without the ability to hear, but what some may have seen as a limitation became for him a source of strength. He embraced life fully, never allowing challenges to hold him back or slow him down. His perseverance and refusal to let obstacles define him became one of his most remarkable qualities.

Athletics played an important role in Joshua’s life. As a child, he played hockey with AHIHA (American Hearing Impaired Hockey Association), where he not only developed his skills but also formed friendships and learned the value of teamwork and persistence. Sports continued to be a defining thread throughout his life, and he became an accomplished athlete, excelling in lacrosse, basketball, soccer, hockey, and softball.

Joshua was most at home outdoors, where his boundless energy and enthusiasm found their outlet. Skiing was his greatest passion, an activity he returned to time and again with pure joy. He also loved mountain biking, hiking, and any pursuit that allowed him to be active and surrounded by nature. Whether racing down snowy slopes, pedaling up a rugged trail, or simply walking in the fresh air, Joshua’s love of movement and adventure was unmistakable.

In addition to his athleticism, Joshua possessed a deep creative side. He was an exceptional writer, and one of his proudest accomplishments was writing a movie script. His ability to tell stories reflected his sharp mind and vivid imagination, qualities that enriched not only his own life but also the lives of those who shared his ideas and dreams. Even in his quieter moments, Joshua found ways to appreciate the beauty around him. Time spent by the ocean on Cape Cod was especially meaningful, as the rhythm of the waves brought him peace and reflection.

He is survived by his long-time companion, Justine Barros of Woburn, His uncle Joe Tripi and his wife Robin of Andover, His aunt Mary of Lexington, MA., cousins, Adam Tripi, Alex Tripi & his wife Meghan, and S.J. Tripi and his wife Natasha, and Danielle Chesley and her husband Adam, Peter Tripi, William Tripi, Jack Chesley and Mallory Chesley as well as a very close friend Julie Kingsley and her family, and many relatives and friends who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his Funeral Mass at 12 noon on Saturday September 13th at St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St. Burlington MA. Calling hours will precede the Funeral Mass on Saturday from 9am to 11:30am at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St. Burlington.
