Lucette A. Gilbert Obituary

Lucette A. Gilbert (Teissie) passed away on September 13, 2025. The beloved wife of the late Gerald M. Gilbert (Gerry) was just shy of 97 years old.

Lucette was born in Etampes, France. She was the daughter of the late Marcel and Marcelle Teissie. She lived in France during World War II during German and American occupations. She was a trained concert violinist who planned to apply to the Conservatory of Music in Paris but who fell in love with Gerry who was in the Army stationed in France. They were married in 1945 and moved to the Boston area in 1946. They would eventually move to Woburn and then built a home in Burlington in 1954. They were married for 72 years!

When she came to the United States, Lucette worked in the sweater mills in Malden. She later worked at IGA and Value King grocery stores in Burlington. Eventually, she was offered to be a teller at Northern Bank in Burlington where she retired in 1999.

Lucette was a devout Catholic and a longtime member of St. Margaret’s Church in Burlington. She taught confraternity for a number of years. Lucette and Gerry were fixtures at the 7:30 AM Mass on Sundays for many years. After Gerry passed, Lucette greatly appreciated that usher Donald Price would graciously accompany her from her car into and out of the church. She had many friends and acquaintances at the church.

Lucette was kind and gentle. She always had a warm smile and never complained about anything. Everyone who met her commented on her pleasant demeanor.

Lucette is survived by her children Ann-Marie Luhrs and her husband Henry of Chelmsford, Christine Gilbert and her late husband Michel Bastarache of Malden, and Jack Gilbert and his wife Sharon of Burlington. Loving and proud grandmother of Michael Luhrs and his wife Lee Ann of Minnesota, Robert Luhrs and his wife Michelle of Washington, DC, Thomas Luhrs and his wife Ellen of Westford, Michelle Gilbert and her husband Jon Hayden of Westford, Brett Gilbert of Burlington, and Benjamin Pong of  North Carolina.
