Kanella Poulos Obituary

Kanella Poulos, of Burlington, passed away peacefully on Sunday September 28th, surrounded by her loving family. She was 71.

Born in Waltham, Massachusetts, Kanella was the beloved daughter of Vasilki (Levedsovidis) Lambros and the late Charles Lambros. She was raised in Cambridge and educated in the city’s public schools, later graduating from secretarial school, a testament to her hardworking and organized nature.

Kanella’s life changed forever during a vacation to Greece, where she met the love of her life, Demetris (James) Poulos. James was serving in the military at the time and happened to be a friend of Kanella’s uncle. Thanks to that fateful introduction, a beautiful romance blossomed. After completing his military service, James immigrated to the United States to be with Kanella, and the two were joyfully married, a union that would span 47 years filled with love, laughter, and adventure.

Together, Kanella and James shared a love for travel and sunny destinations, creating memories in Aruba, Punta Cana, Greece, Bermuda, and beyond. Kanella adored the warmth of the sun and the peacefulness of the water, and her happiest moments were often spent by the sea with James by her side.

When Kanella became a mother, her world shifted again. Her daughters became the center of her life, and she selflessly dedicated herself to raising them with love, patience, and unwavering support. Her nurturing heart only grew when she became a grandmother to Jaxon, Olivia, Shane, and Declan, who were truly the light of her life. Whether she was cheering them on from the sidelines, listening proudly to their stories, or simply hearing about their accomplishments over the phone, her heart swelled with pride and joy.

Kanella also enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. One of her favorite pastimes was visiting casinos, not for the thrill of the jackpot, but for the pure joy she felt watching the reels spin on a slot machine. It brought her laughter, relaxation, and a bit of lighthearted fun that reflected her easygoing spirit.

Kanella will be remembered for her deep love she had for her family. She was a guiding light to those around her, and her presence will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 47 years, James Poulos; her loving daughters, Maria Rossi and her husband Frank of Spring Hill, Florida, and Laura Poulos of Billerica; her cherished grandchildren, Jaxon and Olivia Rossi and Shane and Declan Kelly; her dear mother, Vasiliki Lambros of Woburn; and her brother, Spyro Lambros of Woburn as well as several nieces and nephews

May her memory be eternal.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her visiting hours on Wednesday, October 1st from 5pm -7pm at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington. Her graveside service will begin on Thursday October 2nd from the funeral home at 9am and conclude at Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington.
