Barbara L. (Glemming) Green, age 99, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at her home in Burlington, MA. She was the loving wife of Lawrence E. Green, with whom she had shared over 68 years of marriage.
Born on July 14, 1926, and raised in Longmeadow, MA, she was the youngest of three daughters of the late Harry and Marion Glemming. Barbara graduated from Longmeadow High School with the class of 1944. From her younger years, she loved fashion and took special care to look her best, no matter the occasion.
In the summer of 1956, her roommate convinced her to join some friends throwing a party at Crane’s Beach in Ipswich, MA. It was here that she met the love of her life, Larry. He had also been convinced by a friend to go to the beach, and the two quickly hit it off and began dating shortly after. Barbara and Larry were married the following June and moved to Canton, MA, before settling down in Burlington to start their family.
Raising her two beloved children was one of the greatest joys of Barbara’s life. She did her best to teach them important life values, like being truly kind, but not a pushover, and to always sit up straight to show you were proud of yourself. When the kids were young, she and Larry loved to bring them camping with their travel trailer creating many lifelong memories.
In her free time, Barbara enjoyed reading, especially historical fiction. She was a lover of knowledge and kept up with politics and local events. She enjoyed traveling with Larry taking many trips around the US to places like Arizona and Alaska. For the last 37 years, Barbara and Larry relished their trips up north to their family cottage on Lake Winnisquam in New Hampshire spending peaceful summer days together by the water.
Whether it was their yearly couples’ lunches with their friends scattered around New England, or caring neighbors who always enjoyed checking in with her and Larry, Barbara extended kindness and love to all. As she grew older, she continued to look forward to the company of her children, grandchildren, and adoring husband. Barbara will always be remembered for her kind, but no-nonsense nature, her outgoing sense of humor, and the tremendous amount of love she had for others.
Along with her dear husband, Larry, Barbara is survived by her daughter Tracy Green and her husband Franco Trombino of Candia, NH, and her son Jeffrey Green and his wife Maria of East Hampstead, NH; her cherished grandchildren, Cameron Green and his wife Cady Hickman of Manchester, NH, and Ryan Green and his fiancée Karly Pappas of Cocoa, FL, as well as dear nieces, cousins and loving friends.
Barbara was the younger sister of the late Jean Glemming, and Virginia (Glemming) Grimm.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation on Wednesday, November 19th from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington. Her Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home at 12:30 p.m. Burial will immediately follow in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara’s honor may be made to Cure Alzheimer's in Wellesley, MA, (curealz.org) to fund research to cure Alzheimer's Disease.
